Rate – $39.00 per hour

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain Electrical Engineering stockrooms and equipment inventories in assigned labs
  • Setup and maintenance of Electrical Engineering labs and experiments
  • Responsible for safety and security of Electrical Engineering laboratories
  • Must be adaptable to new instructional and research technologies and willing to learn laboratory techniques/software
  • Must be able to train students in practical skills such as proper use of electronic instrumentation, soldering, anti-static precautions, and debugging electronic systems and digital hardware
  • Create documentation on equipment usage and best practices
  • Purchasing, recordkeeping and inventorying for labs to which assigned
  • Assist and monitor students on interdisciplinary projects that have an Electrical Engineering or faculty advisor and are faculty approved
  • Train student technicians and coordinate duties and schedules
  • Support summer programs and academic research activities
  • Required to assist in a collection of preliminary data needed for grants submissions. May participate in funded research outside of regular hours for additional compensation
  • Obtain an FDNY certificate of fitness for operation of a lab, when necessary (C14), as well as First Aid/CPR certifications
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or at least four years of industry experience after a bachelor’s degree in a related STEM field
2. Experience with power electronics systems, certification preferred
3. Experience in a research and instructional laboratory setting preferred
4. Experience diagnosing and repairing electronic equipment is a plus
5. Experience with analog and digital electronic circuits (including discrete components and board assemblies), digital hardware, and instrumentation in an electronics laboratory including multimeters, signal generators, and oscilloscopes a must
6. Familiarity with software tools such as HDL, PCB layout and circuit simulators required
7. Experience with microcontroller and embedded systems, IoT, RF or optical devices and systems required
8. Experience with one or more of the following languages and tools: MATLAB, Python, C, C++, MicroPython/CircuitPython,
9. Computer skills proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
