Complex Continuing Care Unit
Baycrest Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join its Complex Continuing Care team. This role focuses on supporting older adults with multiple and ongoing health conditions in a non-acute hospital environment, where quality of life, dignity, and individualized care are central to practice.
This is a temporary full-time position (up to 12 months) with day and evening shifts, including alternate weekends.
About the Role
As an RPN in the Complex Continuing Care Unit, you will provide hands-on nursing care to patients with complex medical and cognitive needs. You will work closely with Registered Nurses and an interdisciplinary healthcare team to support patients’ physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, effective nursing care in accordance with the RPN scope of practice
- Administer medications and treatments and evaluate patient responses
- Provide holistic, client-centred care that supports daily living, comfort, activation, and quality-of-life goals
- Participate in care planning by collaborating with Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals
- Support patients experiencing cognitive impairment, mental health concerns, or responsive behaviours
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using electronic health records
Qualifications
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS/CPR Level C with AED) certification
- Experience working with geriatric patients and individuals with complex medical needs is preferred
- Background in psychogeriatric care, including mental health assessment and managing responsive behaviours, is an asset
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer proficiency; experience with electronic documentation systems, Microsoft Word, or Excel is beneficial

- Employment type: Temporary Full-Time (up to 12 months)
- Hours: 75 hours bi-weekly (7.5 hours per shift)
- Hourly rate: $37.56 – $38.16
