    EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
    Currently, there is one (1) full-time Support Service Worker I, Bilingual Assignment vacancy in the Health and Human Services Department, Public Assistance and Employment and Training Branch, CalWORKs Welfare to Work Program and CalWORKs Housing Support Program.The Support Service Worker I Bilingual (SSWI) is responsible for assisting families receiving CalWORKs public assistance benefits and referred for or approved for the Housing Support Program (HSP). Many of whom are monolingual Spanish clients. The SSWI assists clients by completing and/or reviewing referrals and determining eligibility for HSP. Providing referrals to community agencies, and conducting outreach at Marin County community agencies, and at times various public events. The SSWI must work closely with the HSP service contractor; providing guidelines, attending site visits and monitoring contract obligations and follow up if there are corrections. The SSWI is responsible for maintaining case records and keeping data in compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulations. The SSWI works independently as well as collaboratively with other staff as a part of a larger case management team.Bilingual Testing: Bilingual Testing/Certification: The successful candidate must possess bilingual skills and must demonstrate proficiency in both Spanish and English prior to appointment. A bilingual proficiency exam will be administered to ensure the candidates possess the appropriate skill level to meet the requirements.Hybrid Schedule: The Health and Human Services Department has embraced a hybrid work schedule that considers that some duties of this position may be performed remotely. However, the successful candidate must be able to report to County facilities for meetings, work assignments, and/or disaster service work upon short notice, as needed and deemed appropriate. During the initial probationary period, the successful candidate may be required to work primarily onsite before establishing a hybrid work schedule.

Disaster Service Workers: All County of Marin employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
