    Founded in the UK and also based in Nigeria (Abeokuta and Lagos), Meotolo is an early stage technology consulting and apps company building mobile-first cloud-based business productivity software for organisations of all sizes. The company is bootstrapped and self funded, making it a very special opportunity for entrepreneurial sales and product ownership professionals.

    Overview:
    As Business Development Manager, your primary mission is to secure new clients. You will be personally responsible for all aspects of business development and sales, from lead generation and nurturing to closing deals. This role is ideal for a sales-driven entrepreneur seeking a challenging yet highly rewarding opportunity.

    Reporting to the founder, you will strategically develop the enterprise software consulting business by identifying opportunities in my areas of expertise, focusing on
    1 Java-centric server-side applications and infrastructure
    2 Industry standard open source solutions
    3 Cybersecurity

    Key Details:
    1. Position: Tech Consulting Startup Business Development Manager
    2. Sales Focus: B2B Sales of Technology Consulting in Cybersecurity, Enterprise Java environments, Open Source technologies
    3. Location: Abeokuta mostly, some Lagos and some remote, Nigeria.
    4. Compensation: NGN 500,000 per month Basic Salary + 20% Commission + Equity
    5. Earning Potential: Year 1 OTE : NGN 8,500,000; Year 2 OTE : NGN 15,000,000.
    6. Required Mentality: An early adopter personality with a resilient and relentless entrepreneurial spirit is essential.

    Mandatory Lean Startup environment:
    you must be comfortable grabbing the initiative and communicating your ideas in easily understood terms and using the simplest tools, not require any third party collaboration, CRM tools or ‘tech stack’; you must be able to operate using simple text editor, notes or diary tools, and our simple internal contacts database.

    Detailed Duties
    1 Identify and develop new business opportunities through networking, cold calling, and other lead generation methods.
    2 Prepare and deliver sales presentations to prospective clients.
    3 Conduct market research to identify potential clients and industry trends.
    4 Negotiate contracts and close deals to meet or exceed sales targets.
    5 Provide regular updates on sales activities, market trends, and competitor analysis.

    Qualifications:

    While not mandatory, experience in complex sales, particularly within the domain of cloud-oriented enterprise software and software infrastructure, is highly valued.

    A good Humanities degree, or a Law degree or an MBA, while not essential, could serve as suitable preparation.

    Useful Experience:
    – Proven track record in business development or sales role.
    – Strong knowledge of software industry trends and technologies.
    – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    – Strong negotiation and closing skills.

    • 1. Relevant Vertical Industry experience:

    Please summarise any industry experience you have in sales of technology consulting in general, and also sales of consulting to large scale server side environments, or companies with large user population or very large customer population or databases. If relevant also indicate specific examples that match our/Meotolo’s areas of expertise.

    • 2. Collaboration:

    This role is to work along side a founder solopreneur with a Computer Science background, who is looking for an entrepreneur-minded sales professional who will be tasked with making cold calls and other cold approaches in search of potential opportunities. What challenges do you expect working with just one other individual in this scenario, at least initially until you have helped him built some momentum?

    • 3. Lean startup, Early Adopter mindset:

    In a lean startup environment such as this project, an early adopter mindset and MVP approach are mandatory. How do you see yourself embracing this mindset, especially when making cold approaches to potential customers about an unknown brand? In your first 30 days, with the MVP and lean environment restrictions, what will you aim to achieve and what level of budget and other resources do you expect or require; that is apart from your basic salary? Bear in mind we will be using internal database tools and will not be using third party or external cloud platforms to store customer data.

    • 4. Sales Experience:

    Which of your sales experiences do you anticipate would be most relevant to this role, particularly given that you’ll be making cold approaches on behalf of an unknown brand with minimal market presence? How do you plan to leverage your existing professional network?

    • 5. Proposition:

    With what you’ve researched about this project, which of Meotolo’s current offerings, be it apps, consulting or other elements, are you aware of? What are your first impressions with respect to whether they can form a viable proposition? How could your experiences or imagination help you to invalidate, validate, or refine the proposition?
