    Position Title / Rank: Assistant Professor, Solid Mechanics
    Department: School of Engineering


    Position Description:

    The School of Engineering at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in the area of Mechanical Engineering (Solid Mechanics). We are looking for individuals who will establish and lead a world-class, competitive research program in Computational and Experimental Solid Mechanics and AI-based Materials Engineering. The successful candidate will focus on high-performance computing, numerical methods, and applied mathematics for solid mechanics. The anticipated start date for this appointment is September 1, 2025, or another mutually agreed-upon date in the academic year 2025.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and lead a cutting-edge research program in Computational Solid Mechanics and AI-based Material Engineering.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to advance the field of solid mechanics and materials engineering.
    • Publish high-impact research in top-tier journals and present findings at international conferences.
    • Mentor and supervise graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
    • Contribute to the development and teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineering.


    Qualifications
    :

    • B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field by the start date of employment.
    • Demonstrated expertise in Computational Solid Mechanics and use of AI in Materials Engineering.
    • Must have P.Eng status or be eligible for P.Eng registration in the province of Ontario.
    • Strong publication record in reputable scientific journals relative to the date of completion of a PhD.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
