Full job description
We are looking for Assistant Early Years Practitioners who can work to a high standard, extending children’s learning through a variety of interesting play-based activities.
We focus on building positive, nurturing relationships and building children’s independence through play-based approaches to promote their learning and development.
Our nursery is at the heart of the community, working closely with families and local partners to make a real difference and bring about change through nurturing relationships.
You will provide support for the care of a group of children, ensure the indoor and outdoor environment is stimulating and welcoming and provide practical and domestic support in the upkeep of the nursery, whilst maintaining excellent relationships with parents and children.
You will work as part of a collaborative and supportive team who engage in regular continuous professional development.
You will need to have a minimum Level 2 qualification (with a view to undertaking a Level 3 qualification within the first year) as defined by the Department for Education on the Early Years Qualifications List and Ofsted Welfare Requirements or equivalent, along with previous childcare experience and sound knowledge of the EYFS.
The key attributes required for this role are a strong customer focus, the ability to relate well to others, excellent communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative.

A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working at Sheffield Hallam University but its relevance to the duties of the post will need to be assessed before the appointment is confirmed.
